Marian Sorensen is the type of actress who takes every opportunity and turns it into gold. With her beautiful smile and sparkling eyes, Sorensen’s growing body of work reflects her ability to play all kinds of roles, from sweet ingénue to seductive villain.  Add that to her musical theatre and voice over work, and you can’t help but recognize that Marian Sorensen has innate talent.

 

Sorensen starred in the leading role of the critically acclaimed indie feature THE DAUGHTER, where she won the Critic’s Choice Award for BEST ACTRESS at the WorldFest- Houston International Film Festival. “Sorensen packs a punch often unseen with independent film. Her performance is gritty, heart-felt and pops off the screen,” Nick Nicholson, CNN. In this gripping suspense-thriller, the daughter (played by Sorensen) of a wealthy mayoral candidate and her friends are held for ransom by a group of daring criminals. The Daughter has been distributed worldwide and is available on iTunes, Amazon, VUDU, and Google Play.

 

Sorensen has most recently lent her talents to the short film SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS which has taken the festival world by storm and has earned top honors- BEST COMEDY at the Poppy Jasper International Film Festival, BEST COMEDY SHORT / USA at the Rincón International Film Festival and BEST ENSEMBLE at the Idyllwild International Film Festival. Next, Sorensen is starring in the dark comedy VACANCY CLUB, about an improv actor who uses her day job as a realtor for revenge.

 

Originally from Los Altos, CA, and a graduate of the University of Southern California with degrees in Theater and Communications, Sorensen's stage performances include ‘Cherie’ in“Bus Stop,” ‘Hero’ in “Much Ado About Nothing” and ‘Bianca’ in “Othello.” Sorensen has also studied with Lesly Kahn, Sam Christensen, John Rosenfeld, Anthony Meindl and the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco.

 

Sorensen can currently be seen in UNICEF's PSA to end child abuse and is the voice of Feeding San Diego’s annual campaign, providing the narration for their television commercials and an eight-minute documentary that raised over $250,000 in one night at their fundraising gala. She resides in Los Angeles with her husband, Jonathan, their adorable daughter Emma and doggie Penny Lane.
